Are You at Risk?, Singapore’s first and only free lung cancer screening campaign by 365 Cancer Prevention Society (365CPS) is returning for the second year from now to 15 November 2024. Jointly organised by 365CPS and co-partner AstraZeneca, the campaign aims to provide seamless access to sponsored Low-Dose Computerised Tomography (LDCT) lung screening for at-risk individuals to promote early detection and intervention.

Lung cancer is the third most common cancer in men and women in Singapore; it is the leading cause of cancer death for men and third cause of cancer death for women. Over a five-year period, from 2017 to 2021, close to 8,700 cases of lung cancer were diagnosed in Singapore, with more than 60% of the diagnoses at Stage IV.

Lung cancer is often asymptomatic until the advanced stages. When an individual develops symptoms or a spot appears on a chest x-ray, it is typically in an advanced stage of the disease with little chance of a cure. Lung cancer screening programmes have shown to be an effective measure in improving early detection rates, potentially leading to improved treatment outcomes and reduced mortality.

LDCT scan is highly accurate in detecting small spots in the lungs, and is the recommended option for early lung cancer detection. It has been proven to reduce the number of deaths from lung cancer in high-risk patients compared to a chest X-Ray. The scan itself may take a minute or less, and there is no pain through the screening process. The small amount of radiation used in LDCT screenings is much lower than standard doses from regular CT scans.

Sign-Up for Are You at Risk? Free Lung Cancer Screening Campaign

To participate in the lung cancer screening campaign, applicants will have to register with 365CPS or its community partners for a pre-screening consultation, followed by a LDCT scan at 365CPS screening partners’ facilities. The clinic will schedule a review with the doctor if the scan indicates abnormalities, and refer patients to a public health setting if further investigation or treatment is needed.

Are You at Risk? lung cancer screening campaign is available for individuals who:
- Hold a valid blue or orange CHAS card
- Are 50 to 80 years old, and have smoked 20 pack years or more, or quit less than 15 years ago
(Calculated by number of packs smoked daily multiplied by the number of years)
- OR are 50 to 75 years old with 1st degree family history (parent or child, excluding siblings) of lung cancer for non-smokers.

For any enquiries or to register for the free lung cancer screening campaign, members of the public can register on 365CPS website: https://bit.ly/365cpsareyouatrisk or contact 365CPS community partners.

Make a difference to the lives of these at-risk individuals and support the efforts of 365CPS.

All donations to 365CPS will be eligible for 250% tax relief. Any excess funds will be directed to supporting the Society’s tri-fold mission.

Are You at Risk? lung cancer screening campaign is jointly organised by 365CPS and AstraZeneca to take an active step towards the fight against lung cancer. It is made possible through 365CPS partnership with various community groups, medical partners and social service agencies to identify and encourage at-risk beneficiaries to undergo the sponsored screening.
