A Librarian's World | 认识老龄化社会

In 2023, the National Population and Talent Division released “Population in Brief”, which found that the proportion of citizens aged 65 and above had increased from 11.7 percent in 2013 to 19.1 percent in 2023. An ageing society is a demographic transition faced by many countries today. The main drivers of Singapore’s aging population are longer life expectancy and falling birth rates.

Through reference books and databases available in the National Library, Singapore, Senior Librarian Vicky Gao will trace Singapore’s population policies since independence and the measures implemented in response to an ageing population. The session will also highlight recommendations on how the elderly can stay healthy and active.

The talk will be held in Mandarin.

根据国家人口及人才署发布《2023年人口简报》的数据显示，65岁及以上公民的占比已经从10年前的11.7%，上涨至2023年的19.1%。人们寿命的延长和生育率的逐年下降是导致人口老龄化的主要原因，应对老龄化社会的挑战已经是不少国家面临的最紧迫的社会转型课题。本次中文讲座将通过国家图书馆的参考书籍和数据库资源（如中国知网CNKI、华艺线上图书馆Airiti Library），回顾新加坡建国以来的人口政策、政府应对人口老龄化的措施以及探讨老年人的健康生活方式。
